It’s Liz Johnston here – the woman who nagged you senseless at February’s Fort Augustus Feis about our attempt on 6th July 2018 in Mackie Academy to establish the world record for the largest ceilidh band as part of this year’s 30th anniversary of Stonehaven Folk Festival.
Guinness, being the money making industry it is, have stated that we need at least 250 people to establish the record so would you be able to promote it on social media, please? I’d really appreciate it.
Participants MUST register and can’t just turn up (although we would never turn anyone away!) We are currently sitting at 120 and haven’t yet done any real promotional push media-wise so any help you can give us would be great. If we don’t fulfil any record attempt criteria even slightly – and there is so much of it – then we won’t be awarded the record. (It would’ve cost us £7000 to have Guinness organise our attempt or we could pay £10 to do it ourselves – no contest really!!!)
T-shirts for all participants will be provided with the music printed on the back – a stroke of genius really and I’d love to take the credit for it but I can’t… The music is on the festival’s website and there is a simpler part provided for musicians who can’t play at speed. Music stands will not be allowed (hence the t-shirts) but there will be posters of the music on the walls round the academy’s hall for those who don’t play by ear.
Any help you can give us would be much appreciated. If you need any more info then just email me and I can send you our flyer if that would make it easier.
